Il Nanoindentation Tester è particolarmente adatto per misure di carico e di profondità di penetrazione a scala nanometrica. Il nanoindentatore di durezza può essere usato nell'analisi di film di copertura (coating) organici e inorganici, morbidi e duri. Alcuni esempi sono i PVD sottili e multistrato, CVD, PECVD, fotoresist, vernici, lacche e molti altri tipi di film, che riguardano applicazioni in ottica, microelettronica, decorative e altre ancora. I substrati possono essere morbidi o duri e comprendono le leghe metalliche, i semiconduttori, il vetro e materiali refrattari e organici.
